A New Chapter for an Old House: JIN’S・HOME Komae

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Tokyo, a forgotten house is about to begin a new chapter. JIN’S・HOME Komae, our first short-term rental, is set to launch in just a few weeks, bringing new life to a property that has stood empty for the past three years.

Built in 1980, this spacious 120-square-meter house was originally owned by a real estate business owner who combined two plots of land—one for the house and the other for a sprawling 80-square-meter garden. Over time, the house fell into disrepair, but we saw its potential and set out on a journey to transform it.

Located just 20 minutes by train from Shinjuku and walking distance from Komae Station, the house is in an area that even many locals might not know about. Komae City is a hidden gem, offering a peaceful retreat with a strong community spirit, surrounded by green spaces and residential charm. Recently, it has seen a craft beer boom, with several breweries sprouting up, including one just across from our accommodation.

It's also just a short ride away from some of Tokyo’s most exciting spots along the Odakyu Line. Take a trip to Shimokitazawa, famous for its vintage shops, cafes, and live music venues. Or head to Odawara, for a taste of history and beautiful seaside views. For nature lovers, a visit to the Hakone area offers stunning mountain scenery and hot springs.

We’ve invested around 10 million JPY for the transformation—bringing new life to both the interior and exterior, adding modern furniture, convenient amenities for a pleasant stay, and even a barrel sauna and motorized chiller planned for end September. The house is almost ready for its big reveal, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
